Kafka as a curious traveller and sportsman
Have you read The Metamorphosis: and felt it wasn't for you? Kafka deserves a second chance. You might be surprised by what you find. No Kafka expertise needed — just curiosity!
Far from the image of a gloomy writer, Franz Kafka was a curious observer of the world — a traveller, a swimmer and rower, and a man fascinated by modern technology.
For more than 20 years, I have been researching Kafka's life and travels, uncovering a lesser-known, surprisingly modern Kafka — someone who explored Europe, followed new inventions, and actively experienced the world around him. My work includes the book Journeys of Kafka and collaborations with leading Kafka scholars.
This is not a traditional tour. It is a storytelling walk that brings Kafka's world to life — through places, photographs, and personal stories.
You don't need to be a Kafka expert! This walk is for those who may have read Kafka once — and never quite connected with him. I will show you a different Kafka: curious, active, and deeply human.
On our walk, we explore places that are often missing from standard tours — locations connected to Kafka's everyday life, his travels, and his interests beyond literature.
